PRE-TREATMENT:

 

THOSE WHO SHOULD NOT BE TREATED:

People with active cold sores or warts, skin with open wounds, sunburn, excessively sensitive skin, dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea in the area to be treated. Inform the aesthetician if you have any history of herpes simplex.

People with a history of allergies (especially allergies to salicylates like aspirin), rashes, or other skin reactions, or those who may be sensitive to any of the components in this treatment

People who have taken Accutane® (isotretinoin) within the past year

People who are pregnant or breastfeeding (lactating)

People who have recently received chemotherapy or radiation therapy

People with vitiligo

People with a history of an autoimmune disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, etc) or any condition that may weaken their immune system

Note: People who have had medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures (eg, laser therapy, surgical procedures, cosmetic injections, microdermabrasion, etc) should wait until skin sensitivity completely resolves and the full effects of their treatment are seen before receiving a SkinMedica® Peel.

ONE WEEK BEFORE YOUR SKINMEDICA® PEEL, AVOID THESE PRODUCTS AND/OR PROCEDURES:

Electrolysis-Waxing-Laser Hair Removal-Depilatory Creams

THREE DAYS BEFORE YOUR SKINMEDICA® PEEL, AVOID THESE PRODUCTS AND/OR PROCEDURES:

Retin-A, Renova", Differin®, Tazorao®

Any products containing retinol, alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), or benzoyl peroxide

Any exfoliating products that may be drying or irritating

Note: The use of these products/treatments prior to your peel may increase skin sensitivity and cause a stronger reaction.

POST-TREATMENT:

ILLUMINIZE PEEL:

IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PEEL AND UP TO 24 HOURS:

Skin may be tight and more red than usual.

Wait until bedtime before washing your face.

Start applying TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream™ after washing your face with SkinMedica® Facial Cleanser at bedtime the same night of the peel.

Avoid strenuous exercise starting the day of procedure.

NEXT DAY-4 DAYS AFTER PROCEDURE:

Skin should look normal the next day.

Because of the superficial nature of this peel, do not expect to see visible peeling.

Occasionally, some patients may have very minor flaking 3 to 4 days after the procedure.

Apply TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream™' (or any other SkinMedica® moisturizer recommended by a skincare professional) as often as needed to relieve any dryness.

4-5 DAYS AFTER PROCEDURE:

You may resume the regular use of retinol, alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) products, or bleaching creams.

Wait until skin sensitivity resolves before having ANY OTHER FACIAL PROCEDURES including facials, microdermabrasion, facial hair removal (including laser hair removal), injections, or injectable fillers.

POST-PEEL SKINCARE REGIMEN:

CLEANSE:

Use a gentle, soap-free cleanser like SkinMedica® Facial Cleanser. Wash the face gently and avoid rubbing the skin. Do not use a facial cleansing device until the peeling process is complete.

​

MOISTURIZE:

Apply TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream™' (or any other SkinMedica® moisturizer recommended by a skincare professional) and SkinMedica® HAS® Rejuvenating Hydrator as often as needed to relieve any dryness. Apply all topical skincare products gently and avoid rubbing the skin.

SUN PROTECTION:

Apply Essential Defense Mineral Shield™* Broad Spectrum SPF 35/PA++++

Sunscreen, Essential Defense Mineral Shield™ Broad Spectrum SPF 32 Sunscreen Tinted, or TOTAL DEFENSE + REPAIR Broad Spectrum SPF 34 Sunscreen Tinted.

AVOID direct sunlight for at least 1 week.

SERIES OF PEELS:

For maximum results, Illuminize Peel® can be applied every 2 weeks until desired results are achieved. 

​

VITALIZE PEEL:

IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PEEL AND UP TO 24 HOURS:

Skin may be tight and more red than usual.

Skin may feel tacky and have a yellow to orange tinge. This is temporary and will fade in a few hours.

Wait until bedtime before washing your face.

Start applying TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream™ after washing your face with SkinMedica® Facial Cleanser at bedtime the same night of the peel.

Avoid strenuous exercise starting the day of procedure and while the skin is peeling.

24 HOURS AFTER THE PEEL AND UNTIL THE PEELING IS COMPLETE:

Skin may be tight until it starts to peel.

Peeling will generally start 48 to 72 hours after the procedure and can last 2 to 5 days.

For the first 48 hours or before the skin starts to peel/flake, moisturizer can be applied twice a day.

When the skin is peeling, moisturizer should be reapplied more frequently to control the peeling.

DO NOT PICK OR PULL THE SKIN. Allow skin to peel at its own pace.

Premature peeling of the skin will result in dry, cracked, raw skin that may develop into post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

AFTER THE PEELING IS COMPLETE:

You may resume the regular use of retinol, alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) products, or bleaching creams ONLY after the peeling process is completed.

Wait until peeling has completed before having ANY OTHER FACIAL PROCEDURES including facials, microdermabrasion, facial hair removal (including laser hair removal), injections, or injectable fillers.
